Code 6 Lead Flashing (3m & 6m Rolls)
Code 6 lead flashing is widely used for large bays, gutters, parapets and heavy-duty exposed weatherings where increased thickness, stability and long-term durability are required. Available in 3m and 6m rolls, it is a strong choice for larger-scale leadwork and more demanding roofing applications.
At approximately 2.65mm thick and 30.0kg/m², Code 6 offers greater robustness than Code 5 lead, making it better suited to wider spans, heavier detailing and high-exposure areas. It is commonly specified where long-term performance and resistance to fatigue are critical.

Where is Code 6 lead typically used?
Code 6 lead is typically selected where the detail is larger, more exposed or more demanding than standard flashing work. It is commonly used for large bay roofs, parapet gutters, wider valleys, long weatherings and other heavy-duty lead details where a thicker rolled lead sheet is needed to improve stability, reduce the risk of premature fatigue and provide stronger long-term performance.
Compared with Code 5 lead, Code 6 is usually chosen where the span is greater, the exposure is harsher or the detail is expected to cope with more movement over time. It remains workable on site, but it is intended for situations where lighter codes may be pushed beyond their most comfortable use. If you need to compare sizes and formats quickly, use the lead chart before ordering.
Typical Code 6 lead applications
- Large bay roofs and wider bay junctions
- Parapet gutters and substantial gutter details
- Wider exposed weatherings and upstands
- High-exposure roofing work where greater thickness is beneficial
- Heavier traditional or heritage leadwork details
- Projects where long-term durability is prioritised from the outset
Why choose Code 6 over Code 5?
- Greater thickness for larger and more demanding details
- Improved durability on exposed and high-stress areas
- Better suited to wider spans and longer-term movement performance
- Often preferred where heavier-duty leadwork is specified from the outset
- A logical step up where Code 5 lead may be borderline for the application
- Added confidence on more substantial roofing details
Large bays
Code 6 is often a better fit for larger bay details where the lead area is more substantial and movement performance matters over the long term. In these situations, the heavier sheet weight can offer a more robust solution than lighter codes.
Parapet gutters
Parapet gutters often demand a heavier lead code because of exposure, water volume and the need for durability at vulnerable roof edges. Code 6 is frequently considered where the detail moves beyond general flashing work into heavier gutter construction.
High-exposure work
Where a roof detail is especially exposed or expected to take more environmental stress, Code 6 provides a stronger option for weatherings and lead details that need increased thickness and resilience.
